To develop a solid collegiate plan, it's important to cover all your bases, including examining your current situation, setting goals and deciding how to measure your progress. From start to finish, an Athlink Consultant can take you through the collegiate planning process, outlined in these six steps:
Establishing and defining the client-Consultant relationship
Your Athlink Consultant will explain the services he'll/she'll provide and define each of your responsibilities. Along with compensation, you'll discuss how long the professional relationship will last and how you and he/she will make decisions.
Gathering client data, including goals
You and your Athlink Consultant will talk about your current recruiting situation and gather any necessary documents (transcripts, etc..). Together, you'll define your academic, athletic and career goals, including timeframes. You may also want to discuss your comfort level when it comes to distance from home.
Analyzing and evaluating your financial status
Your Athlink Consultant will then consider all aspects of your situation to determine what you need to do to meet your goals. Depending on what services you've asked for, this could include analyzing your athletic training habits, future evaluations opportunities and camps, academic strengths, family financial situation.
Developing recommendations
Next, your Athlink Consultant will go over his/her recruiting recommendations, explaining the rationale so you can make informed decisions. At this stage, your consultant will also listen to any concerns you may have and revise his/her recommendations if necessary.
Implementing recommendations
You and the Athlink Consultant will need to agree on how the recommendations will be carried out. Your Athlink Consultant will carry out the recommendations himself/herself with the assistance of the Athlink Corporate office and support staff.
Monitoring recommendations
As you work towards your goals, you and your Athlink Consultant will monitor your progress to make sure you're staying on track. Throughout the time the consultant is in charge, he'll/she'll check in from time to time, reviewing your situation and making any necessary adjustments to his recommendations.
